I got behind and never made it somewhere new on Wednesday. I compensated on Thursday with a visit to some spots in the desperately-hoping-to-be-gentrified Highland Park neighborhood. I remember the Highland Park mall as the dreary home of the Department of Transportation, but since that spot moved to Ankeny and the mall has been turned inside out, it is not so grim. I heard a radio essay on mall renovation, and I would love to read more. Dinner of burgers and fries came from Little John's, which, I must say, was terrible, probably the worst fast food ever, generic and gross. It was sort of like Burger King, but without the style.

Wednesday and Thursday: Highland Park

I would love to know what radio essay you heard. Highland Park is trying to make a comeback. My parents live in Highland Park and love it!
I can't agree with you more on Little John's, it is aweful food. None of my friends like to eat there. In fact, I can't think of anyone who enjoys the food there. The Highland Park Mall is coming along well with a new parking lot, more acessible Handicap ramps, building structure, and new design. I have my doubts about the businesses that will be there. If little shops that are unheard of, enter Highland Park Mall, business will decrease due to popularity. If we get bigger businesses in the mall, then business might boom. But over all the mall looks terrific.
